Just after finishing her major, del Río started teaching at Universidad Politécnica de Madrid. Then, she won a scholarship to do a PhD in Canary Islands. Upon completion, she decided to come to Mexico to develop her career, both in the fields of research and teaching. She taught Physics and Mathematics in Guanajuato (UGTO) and Puebla (UPAEP, ITSA, ITESM), at bachelor level, and Radioastronomy at graduate level in INAOE.
Now, she is a faculty member of Arkansas State University Campus Querétaro.
She has published several articles and conference papers on topics related to galactic and extragalactic astronomy, and now she is dabbling in a new and fascinating branch of science, management and analysis of big data. She also loves to give popular talks to make science accessible to everyone.
When possible, she is an avid reader, mainly of historical novels and biographies, enjoys the open spaces, hiking, caving ... and the company of friends and family.
